Appalachian Plateau
The Appalachian Plateau is northwest of the Appalachian Mountains. It covers parts of the states New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Maryland, West Virginia, Kentucky, Tennessee, Alabama, and Georgia. The surface of the plateau slopes gently northwest and merges into the Interior Plains. It is an eroded plain of sedimentary rock and not mountains.The Appalachian Plateau is also a maze of limestone caves, deep canyons, and interesting rock formations.
